Annual Membership Meeting

April 25th, 2020   11:00

Many families in Putnam County can trace one or more ancestor to the O'Hair family.  This Founding Family Exhibit opens with a presentation by family genealogists.  Artifacts, photos and other family- held memorabilia will be artfully arranged to tell the story of this Putnam County family.

Michael O'Hair, who was born in Ireland in 1749, came to America as a young adult. A veteran of the American Revolutionary War, he married 3 times and had more than 20 children in Virginia and Kentucky. His son, James Edington Montgomery O'Hair, came to Putnam County, Indiana in the late 1820's, where he and his descendants made O'Hair one of the more prominent and well known families in the county.

Free and open to the public.

Student Curated interactive exhibit opening

Come experience learning from the students' eye-view!  Classes from all four Putnam County school districts have curated exhibits for the museum.  From research, to funding, through assembly of the finished exhibits, the students have done it all!

In collaboration with The Castle, area teachers received training in Project Based Learning which fulfills a state requirement.  In turn, their classes have created exhibits that invite interaction from students of all ages.

The opening day of this exhibit will feature not only the exhibits, but a musical production by 2nd graders and Mike VanResselaer!
