This exhibit pays tribute to the iconic department store that was an anchor on Greencastle’s downtown square for many years. The ornate cash register was built by the National Cash Register Company of Dayton, Ohio. NCR grew through the years until becoming part of AT&T in 1997.

Dillinger's Greencastle Heist
His half hour in Greencastle's Central National Bank netted the infamous gangster his largest haul ever at $134,783.09 in cash and bonds.
Green Acres
Green Acres—The Putnam County Home
Our exhibit displays an eclectic collection of items from Green Acres, the County Home that served the county’s aged population for generations. The home closed in 2009, and the 140-year-old building was recently razed. Among the collection is some hickory furniture made at the State Farm in Putnamville.

Our round barn engages children in history in a fun and educational way. The barn pays tribute to the distinctively shaped barns distinguished the historical landscape of the Hoosier state. They are indicative of Indiana’s agrarian society at the turn of the 20th century.
