Through the Lens Exhibit Opens March
16
The Putnam County
Museum is proud to open its Through the Lens Exhibit on Wednesday, March 16th
at 7:30 p.m. The exhibit features the photographs taken by seven members of the
community, who were given digital cameras and asked to photograph their lives
and homes for the Through the Lens project. The images are diverse and
stunning, featuring various aspects of our wonderful county. Please join the
Museum for the opening, which will include light refreshments, an introduction
by the exhibit creator Caroline Murphy, and the opportunity to speak with the
project’s photographers.
“The Through the
Lens project aims to create art through community and to create community
through art,” says Murphy, the Museum Associate Director and DePauw University
senior. “I was beyond thrilled with the photographs. The participants took time
away from their family and friends for this community-building activity, and
their results speak for themselves.”
On Saturday,
February 26th, the Museum hosted a preview of the exhibit at DePauw
University President Brian Casey’s home. “Everyone was excited by the preview,”
says the Museum Director Tanis Monday.
“The participants were delighted with the products of their hard work,
and other guests from the community were intrigued, eager to attend the opening
of the final exhibit to see Putnam County treasures captured in photos.”
The opening of
Through the Lens will be a wonderful capstone for the Through the Lens Project,
which is expected to become an annual tradition of Putnam County. Come to the Museum on Wednesday, March 16th
at 7:30 p.m. to experience your home through the camera’s lens, and be inspired
by your own community.
